4TH STREET AND CONGRESS AVENUE
The location that I selected was downtown Austin, Texas at the corner of 4th Street and Congress Avenue. I selected this location because of the sheer multitude of people and the vast urban setting, which is quite unlike what I am used to.
LOCATION- The location of my chosen landscape is right in the heart of downtown Austin. Surrounding the rather busy intersection are a variety of businesses like the FedEx Office and Frost Bank. The intersection is also surrounded by numerous local businesses such Turf N' Surf Po Boy, Patika Coffee, and The Speakeasy. Most of the local businesses surrounding the intersection are housed in traditional brick buildings which vary in shape and size. From the intersection, a pedestrian can see several high rises in the distance along with a rather boring view of a parking lot directly across from the Frost Bank tower.
PURPOSE- To me, it seems that the central purpose of 4th and Congress is to be one of the main hubs of interaction within the city of Austin. Here people meet, go to dinner, conduct business, and even conduct daily activities.
TOPOGRAPHY- The topography of 4th and Congress is really quite plain. It is simply a flat asphalt street that runs in four different directions. Although, the topography does not vary even slightly, the view is rather decent because of the variety of buildings and the high rises which stand along the skyline.
STRUCTURES- Surrounding 4th and Congress is a congregation of structures which vary in shape and size. The most prominent structure on 4th and Congress is the Frost Bank Tower which stands at the North Eastern corner of the intersection. The tower stands at approximately 515 feet tall. The base of the tower is constructed of polished limestone while the rest of the tower is a blued glass which forms a sort of crown at the top. Across from the Frost Bank Tower on the South Eastern edge of the intersection is a six floor red brick building which houses FedEx. From a pedestrian's view, standing on the corner one can see several smaller structures such as the rather boring parking lot on the Western edge of the intersection.Within the parking lot there are a few precariously placed aluminum constructed food trailers which add some allure to the parking lot.
VEGETATION- Because downtown Austin is a rather urban area, there is not much vegetation that surrounds the intersection at 4th and Congress. However, there are a few standard oak trees which line the sidewalk. Some of the trees are planted in massive iron bowls which bare the lone star of Texas. The few trees which are not planted in the massive bowls are planted in holes cut into the sidewalk. The trees seem to be a typical oak variety with a rather woody bark and thick, dark green foliage on top. Other than the few trees and a few spots of grass creeping through the sidewalk, there are no visible plants within the vicinity.

I haven't been to this area, but it looks like a place where you could see some interesting things, especially with the food trailers in the parking lot.
